OVERVIEW OF SCOURGE OF WAR REMASTERED

Welcome to Scourge of War Get ready for battle! In this game, you’ll command army units and fight in historic battles from the time of regimental warfare.

It’s a real-time strategy game where the action happens without turns, just like in Sid Meier’s legendary wargame *Gettysburg*, which came out in 1997. That game changed wargames by allowing players to control units on a 3D battlefield, instead of using a hex grid and dice. Combat happened in real-time, and it even had a multiplayer mode that’s still used today.

After *Gettysburg*, Sid Meier released Antietam* in 1998, which introduced more battles in the Antietam Campaign. Then, the game engine moved to the Napoleonic Wars with Waterloo: Napoleon’s Last Battle* in 2001, and later Austerlitz: Napoleon’s Greatest Victory in 2002.

A new era of black powder combat games started in 2005 with Civil War: Bull Run* by Mad Minute Games. This game kept the real time strategy of Sid Meier games but improved the AI and added more historical accuracy. Its sequel, *Take Command: 2nd Manassas*, came out in 2006, including the battles of Cedar Mountain and Chantilly.

Then came the *Scourge of War* series, recreating famous battles like Gettysburg and Waterloo. Years later, we decided to rebrand the game put it on Steam and upgrade the graphics and performance. The graphics engine has improved and the AI is now even smarter and tougher making it harder to win unless you a skilled player.
